Greg MacPherson, Maintenance EP

If MacPherson’s latest EP is any indication, Winnipeg’s best kept secret is about to catch on with the rest of the country. Not that MacPherson’s past records are anything to ignore – his debut Balanced on a Pin is acoustic rock at its finest and Good Times Coming Back Again is an impressive follow up. The EP’s opener “Wide Turn” demonstrates MacPherson’s talent as a thoughtful lyricist. His poignant cover of The Clash’s “Bank Robber” and live favourite “Company Store” shows off MacPherson’s passionate and fierce guitar technique. Maintenance is unique because of its raw acoustic arrangements and social-political lyrics that will leave you eager for his next full release. (G7 Welcoming Committee) Rating: 4 Out Of 5 Stars
