You’re rehired! ‘The Boss Baby’ tops weekend box office

The Boss Baby tops the North American box office for a second weekend with $26.3 million, again edging out Beauty and the Beast.

In second place, Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake earned $25 million domestically, with its worldwide gross edging near $1 billion with $977.4 million.

New this week: the animated Smurfs: The Lost Village placed third with $14 million and the Morgan Freeman-and-Michael Caine-starring comedy Going in Style placed fourth with $12.5 million.

In tenth place, religious drama The Case for Christ earned $3.9 million.

All box office figures are estimates in U.S. dollars and are provided by film studios. Generally speaking, studios earn about 55 per cent of a film’s gross.
