Canadian actress Sandra Oh is prepping up to host the 2008 Genie Awards, Canada's top film award gala.
Oh, best known for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang on TV's Grey's Anatomy, has won two Genies for her roles in 1994's Double Happiness and 1998's Last Night.
"It is an absolute honour to have Sandra Oh as the host for the Genie Awards," said Sara Morton, CEO for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, in a news release.
"Her award-winning accomplishments as an actor in film, TV and theatre, both at home and abroad, are a testament to the kind of talent that Canada has become famous for around the world."
The 28th annual Genie Awards are being held in Toronto on Monday, March 3rd. The gala will be telecast on the E! Network in Ontario, Quebec, B.C. and Alberta, and nationally on the IFC digital cable channel.
Now that the writers' strike has been resolved, new episodes of Grey's Anatomy are expected to air in April.
