George Michael died naturally of heart and liver disease, a coroner's report revealed today.
"As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries," Oxfordshire senior coroner Darren Salter said in a statement.
"No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy."
The 53-year-old British pop star was found dead in his London, England home on Christmas Day, and his funeral has been long-delayed due to post-mortem examinations.
Prior to his death, Michael had reportedly gained a significant amount of weight, which may have contributed to his heart and liver disease.
Immediately following his death, Michael's most popular singles — "Last Christmas", "Careless Whisper" and "Faith" — re-charted on the sales charts in the UK, US and Canada.
