Canadian TV Ratings: ‘Big Bang Theory’ tops with 3.9 million viewers

American programming continues to dominate the Canadian TV ratings. CTV’s simulcast of Big Bang Theory absolutely trounced the competition with over 3.9 million viewers tuning in to see whether Sheldon’s royalty contract would lead to hilarious conflict. (Spoiler: it did.)

It’s remarkable how much Canadians love Big Bang Theory. In the U.S., that same Big Bang episode lured 14.68 million viewers — so if you divide that figure by nine, which is roughly the difference between our populations — that would mean Big Bang would have ranked #9 in the Canadian TV ratings with 1.63 million viewers.

It’s official: Canadians love Big Bang Theory 240 per cent more than Americans.

As for Canadian programming, here’s the list of programs that cracked the top 30:

  • CTV Local Evening News (#7, 1,751,000 viewers)
  • Masterchef Canada (CTV, #15, 1,388,000 viewers)
  • Murdoch Mysteries (CBC, #16, 1,360,000 viewers)
  • Big Brother Canada (Global, #19, 23, 27, 1,230,000, 1,187,000, 1,069,000 viewers)
