'Ghostbusters' director confirms Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver cameos

Director Paul Feig, who’s helming the all-female Ghostbusters reboot, has confirmed that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver all have cameos in the upcoming film.

Feig told Yahoo Movies that the actors signed on due to the quality of the new Ghostbusters cast, which includes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

“Dan was in Melissa’s movie Tammy, and Kristen knows him well because of SNL, and I think he’s been around because he knows Kate and Leslie, too,” Feig told Yahoo Movies. “And same with Bill. Bill worked with Melissa in St. Vincent and he’s been around the [SNL] set enough, and Kristen knows him really well.”

The new plot takes place in a different timeline from the first two films, and the actors are not reprising their roles as Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz and Dana Barrett.

Ghostbusters is scheduled for a July 15, 2016 release.
