Sarah McLachlan announces split from husband

Singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan has publicly confirmed that she has split with her husband of 11 years, drummer Ashwin Sood.

“I haven’t said anything about it because I’ve been terrified to, but I figure … there’s no good time to say it, so I just said it,” McLachlan told Billboard magazine.

LaineyGossip.com had reported the couple’s separation back in May, during which time McLachlan went on a Hawaii vacation with only the couple’s two children India, 6 and Taja Summer, 14 months.

McLachlan and Sood first met in the early ‘90s and have worked together on every one of Sarah’s albums since 1991’s Solace.

Sood was the ex-boyfriend of McLachlan’s best friend, causing a rift between them, though the two friends eventually reconciled. The 1997 hit song “Adia” was written about their estrangement.
