Cruise will return to the scene of the couch on Oprah

Nearly three years after he jumped the couch on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tom Cruise is scheduled to return in a two-part episode that will coincide with the 25th anniversary of his film, Risky Business.

Part one will air on May 2, and feature Winfrey interviewing Cruise from his home in Telluride, Colorado. Part two will air on May 5, with Cruise and Winfrey together in the show’s Chicago studio.

Harpo Productions released a statement Thursday which said that part one will focus on Cruise’s “family, his life and the future.” Cruise will also be surprised with taped messages from friends and colleagues honoring his film work.

Since his infamous appearance on the show in May 2005, when he declared his love for then-new girlfriend Katie Holmes, Cruise has become the target of criticism for his over-the-top enthusiasm and involvement with The Church of Scientology.
