Bif Naked diagnosed with breast cancer

Bif NakedVancouver-based singer-songwriter Bif Naked is battling breast cancer.

During a live radio interview with George Stroumbolopoulos on Jan. 6., Naked revealed her diagnosis for the first time.

“I found a weird bumpy lumpy in my breast,” she said. “And it was odd. It struck me as odd.”

The 36-year-old rock-pop star behind the hits “Spaceman,” “Lucky” and “I Love Myself Today” leads a healthy lifestyle, works out regularly, maintains a vegan raw-food diet and is a non-smoker.

In the upcoming weeks, Naked’s Stage 2 breast cancer will be treated surgically, including a lumpectomy, and later followed by chemotherapy. In between treatments, she will continue her music career.

“It is important for everyone to understand that cancer is non discriminatory and even those in great health can be subject to cancer as a diagnosis,” Naked said in a statement released by her label. “I urge all women at every age to self examine and go for scheduled mammograms.”
