Retro fans get ready: a River City Ransom sequel is coming to the 3DS. River City: Tokyo Rumble, first released in Japan in 2013, is being localized for the west.
River City Ransom is a classic 1989 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) beat-em-up which didn’t sell well during its initial run, but has become a cult classic over time. Similar to the Double Dragon series, you follow two high school students named Alex and Ryan as they fight their way through River City to rescue Ryan’s girlfriend Cyndi from a villain named “Slick”.
River City: Tokyo Rumble similarly follows the story of a hot-blooded high school student named Kunio and his good friends. When a nefarious gang moves into Tokyo to try to take it over, it’s up to this self-proclaimed “fighter for justice” and his buddies to make sure the streets stay safe.
The game will feature local and download play, along with unlockable character, stages and songs.
